CONTENU DU PRESENT OUVRAGE Ce recueil se présente sous l’aspect d’une suite de propositions, classées par ordre alphabétique, dont tous les verbes sont conjugués : on n’y trouvera donc point, comme c’est fréquemment le cas dans la plupart des livres analogues bilingues, cette pléthore de phrases infinitives le plus souvent assez déroutantes dès qu’on doit les utiliser. Il renferme aussi maints exemples comprenant des termes argotiques, très usités, constituant ipso facto un ensemble absolument original. L’aspect sexuel et celui de la drogue, tous deux présentement à la mode, n’y ont certes point été négligés. Tous ces exemples recourent exclusivement à un anglais pleinement actuel (avec ses défauts l’éloignant ainsi, parfois radicalement, de tout purisme !), affranchi bien sûr de tout archaïsme, se rapportant à la vie de tous les jours, et abordant pratiquement tous les cas pouvant normalement se présenter. On y trouvera encore des extraits de la Presse anglo-américaine, de lettres, de communiqués, etc. L’auteur y rapporte également pas mal de petits faits curieux, l’ayant réellement frappé au cours de ses nombreux déplacements, et qui, selon lui, méritaient d’être mentionnés afin d’utilement instruire le lecteur, tout en le distrayant. Il y énonce enfin quelques règles de grammaire, toutes personnelles, provenant soit de sa propre expérience soit d’entretiens fructueux qu’il a eus sur le sujet avec des amis anglophones venant d’horizons divers. IMPORTANT REMARK : It has to be remembered that this book can be fruitfully and very conveniently used by anyone, able to read English, aiming to reach a high standard of Idiomatic French (literal, figurative, colloquial or slang).
